Zotero tab does not show up on Word, but works as macro

I am having a problem with the Zotero plug-in showing up as a tab on Word 2016. I have read several of the posted discussions here and none of them apply to my problem.
I can see Zotero as an Add-in on the options from Word, I can see the proper file in the Word Start-up folder and I can even manually run Zotero buttons as macros (works normally), but there was no way to make the Zotero plugin show up as a tab.
If I run Word as administrator, however, I can see the tab but it does not work and I get the error "Zotero experienced an error updating your document".
All macros and Add-ins are allowed.

What should I do?
  • If you have modified you Normal.dotm template in Word the Zotero tab might not appear. Resetting it might help. Find your Normal.dotm file under C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates and move it somewhere else temporarily (like your desktop), then restart Word. Does the Zotero tab appear then?

    If not, is this an institutional computers or are you troubleshooting for a private computer? Could some group policy be overriding this? Can you create a new Windows user account on this computer and see if you get the Zotero tab there?
