[Zotero 7 Beta] main interface is too wide to display completely on a vertical screen

edited April 9, 2024
My external screen for MacBook's resolution is 800*1280 (actual resolution is 1600*2560, but text is too small with this resolution). In window mode, zotero is too wide and can't be narrowed manually; it can be made full screen, but the interface is incomplete (the right side of the main interface goes beyond the screen and can't be seen).
  • Yes, we're going to reduce the minimum width.
  • @jiiuuliv: Beta 74 dynamically adjusts the window's minimum width to account for the visible panes, so if you want to make the pane much narrower, you can close the item pane.
  • @dstillman is there any plan to make width fully customizable? It may sound a little petty, but I cannot place Zotero side-by-side with another window on my monitor because of Zotero's minimum width, which slows down writing research.
  • @frankiersanchez: It just doesn't really make sense to allow the window to be shrunk such that entire panes start getting cut off — the only reason to have a window visible in the first place would be to actually view its content. As I say above, if you want to make the pane narrower, you can close the collection and/or item pane. You can also switch to Stacked view (View → Layout), which allows the window to be made considerably narrower by moving the item pane below the items list.
