Huge annotating lag on iPad

For several days, I have been attempting to annotate using highlighting and writing. However, there is often at least a three second lag. Additionally, if I try change the color there is also a 3 to 5 second making this an ineffective app experience. I am going to try uninstalling and reinstalling the app to hopefully, correct this issue.
