How to exclude day and month from date of a paper citation

When citing papers in the Vancouver (and also in other citation styles) I get not only the year of the citation, but also month and day. E.g.: Nisbet EK, Zelenski JM, Murphy SA. The Nature Relatedness Scale: Linking Individuals’ Connection With Nature to Environmental Concern and Behavior. Environ Behav. 2009 Sep;41(5):715–40. How can I exclude the information on day and month?
