Chinese title and translation should not be in italics

Hi team,

Could you please advise how to get around the issue of Chinese title and translation being in italics? Kindly refer to screenshot attached below. The Chinese characters and the translation (the text in brackets) should not be in italics. I have tried different fonts and the issue still occurs. Many thanks.

  • What citation style are you using? My memory was that Zotero’s citation processor never applied italics to Asian scripts, so this behavior is surprising to me.
  • Hi bwiernik, thanks for your reply. I am using Chicago style 17th edition. I referred to Yale Library guide for citing Chinese sources. https://guides.library.yale.edu/c.php?g=296262&p=1974227

I was thinking that even if I omit the Chinese characters in the Zotero entries, when I translate the titles and put them in [ ] square brackets, the text in square brackets will be italicised too. The Yale library guide shows that the text in square brackets should not be italicised.

What would you recommend to get around this issue? Many thanks.
  • Hi team, I couldn't trace a reply to the post that I had made 6 days ago. I understand that other users in the Zotero forum have also faced this issue. It would be fantastic if you could kindly advise what we can do in this instance. Many thanks.
