Library - filter (hide) items that are in any collection - HOWTO?

Hi forum,
I understand that any item in a collection is an ALIAS to the item in "My Library".
On the demonstration video I notice that indeed one can MOVE a selected item from the Main Library to a Collection. In the video the moved items seem to 'disappear' from the Main Library.

When I try to do this, the items remain in my Main Library.
What am I doing wrong? (Using version 2)

I find this behaviour disturbing. Why?
As I tend to collect items during work, I gather stuff in the Main Library view. Quite often it is only at a later stadium that I will add tags, notes and classify collected items.

Now if I could really MOVE an item into a collection, this would already be a classification in itself. Important though, is that if the item would be 'out of sight' in the main library, I would have a visual control of what remains to be categorized.
Also it would speed up the appearance of items in Zotero, as there would be limited items either in a Collection or in My Library.

Is there any way to filter items in My Library to only show items that do not have an alias in any Collection??

My Library shows every item that you have in any collection, except for the trash. This is by design. To get the behavior you're looking for, you can make sure to add new items to a processing queue-- I usually add to a collection called "Temporary", then work from there and delete from it when I've moved items to better collections and/or tagged them.

You can also create a saved search for new items (added within the last 1-3 weeks) that can serve as a pseudo-collection of recently-added items that ought to be categorized.

Edit: Notably, there is not currently a good way to create a collection of uncategorized items, although that has been suggested and might happen some day.
