Problem with importing references into Zotero from a Microsoft Word file

Hey guys, I am a first year PhD student just getting into using Zotero. For some reason in my country, nobody cared to tell us about this app back in undergrad, even though it would have been a life saver. Anyhow.

My problem is this: I am trying to extract the references from my old word files (thesis, etc) because there are tons of references in there, done the old-fashioned way, manually. I found the extractor everyone recommends (Rintze Zelle), however once uploaded, it says 0 references extracted. I am very confused because the references entries in the word files were done properly, its own bibliography generator for example works just fine. Is it maybe a browser issue?

Side-question: My current professors insisted on a shared google doc file, where once again I have an awful lot of references in a table. Can I move those into Zotero somehow, other than by painstakingly transcribing them one-by-one?

Thank you in advance for your kind help.
