Digital object identifiers (DOIs) are commonly featured in reference entries for journal articles, as well as in entries for other types of electronic resources. Authors do not need to include DOIs for published journal articles when preparing manuscripts. If they are retrievable from registries, the DOIs for published journal articles will be added to entries as links during the production process.
The guidelines specifically ask not to include DOIs though?

I've still started a PR though as we should include the DOI>URL for items that are not published yet.
