CSV export does not provide semi-colon-separated notes for the given item

Hi,

I am using Zotero Beta. My report id is 1330268951.

When I export my collection along with Notes as a CSV file, the resultant CSV file gives me junk characters for the field of Notes. Earlier, for different collection, it gave me semi-colon-separated notes for the given item, when I opened it in MS Excel.

I have tried all thee options of character encoding UTF-8, UTF-8 without BOM, and western. But, no satisfactory output.

Could you please help in generating semi-colon-separated notes in CSV export file.

Thank you,

Chandrakant Patel
  • The notes include the HTML formatting and always have, but otherwise they export fine as semicolon-delimited notes for me. What more specifically are you getting?

Four pages of junk characters, whereas the notes would be around 4-5 lines.
  • can't say more without actually seeing the detail. Did you install any relevant add-ons (e.g. Zotero better notes or so)?
  • Not really. I have not used any plug-in or add-on so far.

I was on Zotero6 a few weeks back. Then, I shifted to Zotero Beta.

Can I share my CSV file with you?

  • Hello @adamsmith and @dstillman,

Could you please help in this regard?

    Thank you.
  • (do allow a bit more time before bumping posts, please -- you didn't even wait 48hs on a weekend; also, generally avoid tagging people, especially those who haven't actually been involved in a thread as dstillman here)

Can you just paste an portion of the note field here?
  • I sincerely apologize, @adamsmith. I will take care of such things in the future.
  • Here is the small portion of the note field:

    <div data-citation-items="%5B%7B%22uris%22%3A%5B%22http%3A%2F%2Fzotero.org%2Fusers%2F12492975%2Fitems%2FSN35I32K%22%5D%2C%22itemData%22%3A%7B%22id%22%3A%22http%3A%2F%2Fzotero.org%2Fusers%2F12492975%2Fitems%2FSN35I32K%22%2C%22type%22%3A%22article-journal%22%2C%22abstract%22%3A%22Purpose%20The%20purpose%20of%20this%20paper%20is%20to%20identify%20the%20input%2C%20process%20and%20output%20factors%20(along%20with%20their%20manifest%20variables)%20of%20small%20and%20medium%20enterprises%20(SMEs)%2C%20and%20to%20establish%20cause%20and%20effect%20relationships%20amongst%20the%20factors%20and%20sub-factors.%20Systems%20thinking%2C%20a%20holistic%20approach%2C%20is%20used%20to%20carry%20out%20qualitative%20analysis%20of%20the%20feedback%20loops.%20Design%2Fmethodology%2Fapproach%20A%20well-structured%20questionnaire%20was%20developed%20to%20gather%20the%20relevant%20data%20to%
  • got it -- so that's the citation data when you add a citation or annotation in a note.
You're saying this didn't happen with previous versions -- are you sure those included citations? I'd be surprised if this changed (but of course citations in notes haven't always been agailable, though they have been for quite some time now)
  • Yes, some of the notes in the given item have annotations, which was not the case when I exported earlier in the same manner. What could be the solution then?
