[Zotero 7 Beta] Set Attachment Preview page

I have added a book to my library in PDF format, with the first page being the cover of the book. For some reasons, the Attachment Preview in the Item Pane shows the second page of the book instead of the first one:

At first, it cannot see that there is a page before:

After waiting a bit and coming back, it finally finds the first page, and I can navigate back to it manually in the Preview area:

This is a bit annoying, as I cannot see the cover of the book when navigating through my library. What could be the reason for this? Can I fix it?

I have noticed that the page numbers also change after opening the PDF file in the Reader. At first, I see:

Then:

The page label of the first page in Acrobat is "C".

Is it possible to set manually the preview page? That would be useful also in other cases than this problematic case.
  • Does this issue occur only with this specific PDF? Could you send the PDF file to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?

Sorry to interfere with the discussion.

I have a different use case, but with the same request. All the PDFs I have retrieved from JSTOR have a page automatically inserted before the first page of the paper. It would be nice to be able to set the preview to the actual first page of the paper, and not to the first page of the PDF. I can send a PDF if needed.

@martynas_b: I have just sent the PDF file. Thank you.

@poettli: Yes, same for AIP, IOP and Taylor & Francis journals.
I usually just delete that page, but being able to set the second page as the Preview page would be good also.
  • @mjthoraval The issue with this PDF file is weird, but we should be able to fix that.

Manually setting a preview page won't be feasable, but it might be possible to automatically detect publisher's page and then preview the subsequent page instead.
  • Thank you.
This is the only PDF for which I noticed the problem.
