Zotero Storage does not reduce in size after halting Synchronization

My Zotero Storage is 2GB and I don't want to buy more storage. To solve this, I would like to remove the attached PDF files from the online Zotero storage and only have the PDF files present on my local computer. Therefore, I stopped File Syncing in the settings, but my Zotero Storage remains 2GB. How do I selectively remove the attached files from my online Zotero Storage?

    You would have to delete attachments in Zotero, empty the trash, and sync.

    You shouldn't disable file syncing unless you actually don't want to use file syncing, and in that case you don't need a storage subscription.
