Configuring Walden proxy

Wondering how to set up the configuration for Walden's own "Thoreau" search engine, to enable the biblio and PDF metadata to come directly from the database (e.g. EBSCOHost) through "Save to Biblio Manager", which is 2 extra steps and does not save the PDF data.

The proxy results typically have a URL in the following style:
http://wf2dnvr8.webfeat.org/ywvgN18977/url=http://web.ebscohost.com/ehost/detail?vid=1&hid=13&sid=82625b76-f870-49fb-955f-beecbc6f92f9@sessionmgr12&bdata=JnNpdGU9ZWhvc3QtbGl2ZSZzY29wZT1zaXRl#db=aph&AN=6391485

The "wf2dnvr8." element contains a variable number-- here 8, but I have seen 12 and 16. I have not been able to configure this through Preferences.

Any ideas?
  • A dynamic proxy address, how incredibly nasty! That would drive me crazy. Firefox would not be able to manage that itself. Zotero does a good job with my ezproxy, but I don't think you can assign multiple proxy addresses to a single website (and I am not aware of any way to account for variables). The best solution I can think of would be a Firefox addon for proxy management. If there are a finite number of possible variations, you could save each as a separate proxy, and just switch to whichever one you are assigned at a particular time.

EBSCOHost itself is a serious mess, but if you are having this problem with other databases as well, then it is probably your proxy. Have you tried the trick mentioned elsewhere in the forum that involves saving items to your ebscohost folder, and then downloading them all at once from the folder page?

You can use %a as a replacement for any string.
