Signing in to Zotero

I'm a relatively new user but whenever I go to sign in,
Zotero appears nowhere on my tool bar.
when I google Zotero sign in, I'm taken to the download screen
I have to download and install each time to get in
then I am taken directly to my library
Google extension remains installed, as well as the word add-in

Does anyone have an idea of what is likely going on? thanks,

Can you take some screenshots to show what you're referring to? I'm not following this.

There's a login button at the top of every page on this site, but you're already logged in. You obviously don't need to download Zotero more than once.
