Modern Language Association Dates

I have noticed that when I export a citation in MLA format, the dates are returning incorrectly. For example, a web article published on February 5, 2010 displays as:
5 Feb 2010.

Instead, it should have a period after Feb:
5 Feb. 2010.

The official MLA handbook website states:
"Spell out the names of months in the text but abbreviate them in the list of works cited, except for May, June, and July."
  • I'll have a look - thanks for reporting.
  • fixed on the repository - note that you'll have to manually update the style from the dev section of the repository as soon as it shows up (which should be within the next couple of hours:
    http://www.zotero.org/styles/mla/dev?install=1
  • I've checked the updated style. Thanks for the correction! However, there is still one error, and I probably should have been a bit more detailed about this: January-April and August-December are all cut to three letters and abbreviated. (e.g. "14 Feb. 2010"), but months May, June, and July are kept full and have no period placed after them (e.g. "4 July 1776"). I know some other popular citation engines ignore this, but is it possible for this to be integrated into Zotero?
  • oh man... yeah, I guess that's possible, but a bit of a drag -
I think I have it, could you please help test this for me?
    go here:
    http://gist.github.com/304349
download using the "Raw" link on the top right
install by dragging the downloaded file to an open FF window.
FF will ask you if you want to update the style (click OK)

If that works I'll put in the repository.
  • I'm sorry, I have made one quick mistake, but it should be easy to fix- September should abbreviate to "Sept.", not "Sep." Otherwise, it works brilliantly. Thanks a lot for your effort!
  • OK - it's fixed on the link above, I'll upload it to the repository later.
