"View Snapshot" opens web snapshot in Chrome, but Firefox is my default

This is with Zotero 6.0.30 on Ubuntu 22.04. Firefox is set as my default browser. Opening links everywhere, except this one situation, uses Firefox.

I have a web page saved in Zotero, with a snapshot. If I look at the item metadata and click on URL, the page opens in Firefox. If I right-click on Snapshot in the middle pane and choose View Online, the page opens in Firefox.

If I double-click on Snapshot, or right-click and choose View Snapshot, it opens in Chrome!

Why might this happen? Any help appreciated.
  • That suggests you have Chrome set to open HTML files. That's a separate setting from your default browser which opens links. File associations are a bit of a mess in Linux, but you should be able to track that down. First thing to try would be what happens if you use "Show File" and open the snapshot from your file system. I'd expect that to also be Chrome and in that case you can figure out how to change that system-wide.
  • Thank you! In the file viewer after Show File, right-clicking and viewing Properties showed Chrome as the default, and I could change it there.

(Also, `xdg-mime query default text/html` changed from Chrome to Firefox. If anyone else has this problem I assume there's another route there to fix it, but my situation is solved.)
