Upgrade StorageFile Not Found

Apologies, I appreciate this is a topic that is breached often, but I think I may have just lots a considerable amount of research and am low-key panicking, so any help would be welcome!
So, for starters, I use Zotero on two devices. My main laptop and my iPad.
When I checked for some files today on my main computer, I got the dreaded error message "The attached file could not be found at the following path: [insert path here]. It may have been moved or deleted outside of Zotero, or, if the file was added on another computer, it may not yet have been synced to zotero.org."
So, I know I haven't moved or deleted anything from my main computer. These files had been syncing regularly, too, but now I cannot access them from either my laptop nor my iPad. A couple days ago, my subscription expired and the card I had on file no longer functioned, so I didn't notice when it happened. I renewed it today after I spotted that syncing seemed stuck, but I don't think that should have impacted any of my files saved on my computer, is that correct? So, I don't know where these .pdf have gone to or whether they are recoverable, hence *le panic*.

There's no way for files that were available in Zotero on a given computer to be deleted by Zotero itself without the items in Zotero also having been deleted.

If you're sure they existed on this computer before, you may have accidentally deleted your Zotero data (e.g., while trying to clear up disk space). Since the files hadn't been uploaded previously due to your being over quota, they wouldn't be available after starting with a new/cleaned data directory.
