Some issues with specific translators and add-ons

[Split from Supplementary Information]

As a dedicated Zotero user in my daily research, I've encountered some issues with specific translators and add-ons. I value the work of Zotero's development team and would like to share these details in hopes of improving the user experience

Hi team,

1. There seems to be a problem with attaching supplementary files on the PubMed Central website. As this platform is widely used by researchers globally, could you please write code to enable or troubleshoot this functionality?

2. I'm encountering consistent issues with the Zotero PMCID Fetcher add-on. It frequently fails to retrieve PMID/PMCID information, even when I manually initiate the process by clicking "Fetch PMCID keys." The "Extra" column remains empty. I'd appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue.

I'm encountering a problem with the Zotero PMCID Fetcher add-on when retrieving journal metadata using bulk DOI IDs. The "Fetch PMCID keys" function remains inactive, leaving the "Extra" column empty. This issue impedes my workflow, as retrieving PMCID keys is crucial for my research.

3. The "Find Available PDF" option in Zotero frequently indicates "PDF not found," even when the same article has an openly accessible PDF on the original website. This inconsistency presents a significant hurdle for efficiently locating PDFs, which impedes my research workflow.

Please resolve these issues as they are crucial for biomedical researchers.

  • Three separate issued:
    1. As noted in the original style, supplements are generally poorly supported and have never been supported in PMC -- we can take a look, but likely won't be soon.
    2. For issues with the add-on, file an issue on the github you link to, providing precise steps to reproduce and error description.
    3. We'd need examples for this -- generally open access PDFs should work very well.
