Digital signature / certificate for zotero Microsoft Word plugin expired

Hello everyone,

the zotero plugin for Microsoft Word does not work anymore and shows me an error about an expired certificate:

Any help for resolving this problem is highly appreciated!
Thank you in advance,

  • Has it worked before on this computer, or have you only used it on other computers? As explained here, the signature was timestamped, so it should remain valid after the expiration date. It's possible this is just a general warning that your institution has blocked macros, and the expiration warning is just an unrelated message in this dialog box.

We're going to push a new version with an updated certificate soon to avoid confusion, but there technically shouldn't be any need for it.
  • Thank you for your answer, dstillman. It had indeed worked on the same computer before. We try to fix it in our institution and will come back to you on this if it doesn't work.
  • We're going to try to push out a new version with an updated certificate within the next few days. The current signature should remain valid, but it's possible either Word or some institutional policies are preventing it from working as it should.

OK, please try the Zotero 7 beta, which now includes an updated .dotm with a new certificate.
