Zotero beta: What do bidirectional text editing utilities do?

In Advanced tab of the preferences.
I'm assuming they're for RTL and LTR languages, but what specifically do they enable/call?
  • AbeJellinek
    - Enables a Firefox feature that shows the current text direction as a "hook" on the text editing cursor
    - Adds a "Switch Text Direction" option to the text editing context menu
    - Enables some heuristics to automatically set the text direction in the item tree and Info pane
