Upgrade StorageZotero not allowing changes in Word

Working with a large Word document with a substantial number of citations.
Zotero will open existing citations, allow new citation spots to be opened and allow the citation details to be typed into the application plugin window, but will not insert or update any of the citation details when you push Enter. The following error message appears: "Zotero experienced an error updating your document. Would you like to view troubleshooting instructions?"
All debugging steps in said troubleshooting instructions have been attempted to no avail. The same error message appears when attempting to update document preferences and add/edit or update the bibliography.
