Help - messed up citation footnotes with code ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION

My citations are suddenly full of this code. All I can think is I accidentally pressed Bibliography instead of Citations at one point but now everything has code in it. This is on a 100 page thesis document. Please someone say there is a way around this...

I have the same problem. I am working on Windows. The "Show field codes instead of their values" checkbox is already unchecked. The problem appears and disappears. Sometime I get the "ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION" right away, sometime I may try to enter a citation, and it works properly; however, when I delete and re-add it, I get the "ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION". I'm also having other random issues, such as when I try to add a citation and Zotero instead adds the bibliography for two citations in the text. I'm using Zotero 6.0.36.

UPDATE: I uninstalled McAfee and shut down FocusMe (a website blocker). The Zotero website was not being blocked, but perhaps there was some interference? The Zotero plugin's behavior appears to have improved.
