A standard citation format for the Web?

Imagine a standard citation format for the Web: farewell to PDF and good riddance. What would it be? Wikipedia citation style?

Out of the box, Zotero already supports Wikipedia citation templates as export formats -- why not support Wikipedia citation style proper?
