ArXiv import fails

Hi,
A few days ago, I started having issues with the imports from ArXiv. I use Zotero 6.0.27 with Firefox Zotero Connector 5.0.114. Zotero Connector shows the following error when I try to import a preprint: "An error occurred saving with arXiv.org. Attempting to save using Embedded Metadata instead."

This action no longer creates a preprint item in my library; it only creates a "Web Page" item. Moreover, I don't manage to import the preprint using the identifier-based import directly in Zotero: the identifier is not found.

Does anyone know the origin of this issue? Was there a change in the ArXiv API?

Can you udpate to the latest version of Zotero: 6.0.30?
Can you provide an example URL for which you observe the problem?

I am using Zotero via snap so I cannot update it to 6.0.30 easily.

FYI, I recently reinstalled my Zotero Connector, so the problem could come from a change in the plugin.

For example, I have the issue on these URLs:
- https://arxiv.org/abs/2301.08143
- https://arxiv.org/abs/2401.05562v1
- https://arxiv.org/abs/2304.00129
- https://arxiv.org/abs/2312.04579

I just tried a few URLs from my Zotero library. I can't find any ArXiv URL on which it works.

The import still works fine on other eprint servers (e.g., IACR eprint server).

I'm seeing this, too -- Zotero is getting an error response from the arXiv API it is using for import. That's an issue on their end, they're returning the same error for the sample API call in their documentation (even though their status page says everything is operational). I've reported this, will update here once I hear back.

@mdamie -- I never heard back from ArXiv, but the API (and Zotero import) appear back to normal.
