Firefox 'Application Not Responding' during upgrade
Hi,
I am upgrading from Zotero version 1 to 2 and the upgrade wizard is taking a very long time (4 hours) with no sign of progress (grey upgrade bar not moving - spinning beach ball). Firefox v.3 is also stating that the 'application is not responding'. I have quit and tried again with the same thing happening. Am I just being inpatient or is there a problem?
Thanks,

Is there a reason you're using Firefox 3? Firefox 3.6 is much faster.
Thanks for getting back to me so soon.
I should have included more information.
I'm using a MacBook 1.83ghz core duo with 2gb of RAM, running Mac OS 10.4.11 with Firefox 3.5.
My zotero.sqlite file is 30mb.
If it hangs and doesn't continue, paste in the last three lines.
Also using a MacBook Pro, 1.83ghz core duo with 2gb of RAM, running Mac OS 10.4.11.
I upgraded to Firefox 3.6.
My zotero.sqlite file is 63.1 mb.
I get a Firefox "not responding" message within 2 minutes. I've left my laptop running for up to an hour, but this doesn't change. When the Zotero update dialog said "this may take a few minutes," does that mean 100's? 1000's?
I guess if there is no way I can get Zotero to upgrade I will have to go through the uninstall FF 3.6 so that I can then uninstall FF 3.5. >sigh<
I looked at the "real-time debug output" link you gave, Dan, but it looks like I have to have Zotero open and running for that to work?? If so, that's a problem* since right now I have no Zotero at all... and a dissertation to work on. I don't mind continuing with Zotero 1.0, but I will be in major trouble if I can't get any Zotero now at all!
(*also, I am not very savvy with debugging and all that. Sorry if I am already misunderstanding!)
Well, I went ahead and opened an older version of FF, 3.5.7, and uninstalled Zotero 2.0 and reinstalled 1.0.10.
My colleague who's desperate that we do the sharing thing from our respective Uni's will be disappointed, but I have my jillion diss and work references back! Whewww.
But I'd still love to know how I can get Z 2.0 onto FF 3.6 without crashing FF.
Shall I try that debug reporting thing?
