[Request] Add to Zotero via dPID

With the gradual development of Web3.0 with protocols like IPFS and services like DeSci, scientific file sharing might look very different in just a few years. An important way to adapt to this change now would be to introduce the ability to use a dPID to add an entry to your Zotero library. In principle, this shouldn't look any different than using a DOI.

DOIs have metadata Zotero can query. As I understand it, the right 'web1/2' analogy for a CID would be a permalink or a handle, with which Zotero can't do much either

@adamsmith I'm not sure, but it might be possible to pull that metadata from DeSci once it matures a bit? That is, user gives Zotero the CID, then Zotero sends that CID to DeSci and pulls the needed metadata. Definitely more complicated than DOI, but nobody ever said that decentralization is simple.

When you say "DeSci" what exactly do you mean? I know this as a catch-all for Web3 science, not a particular service one could query?

I reached out to the devs for DeSci and one said that this is why they developed dPID. https://www.dpid.org/

They said they wrote a comment in reply to this, but maybe it hasn't shown up yet because they're a new user here and need to be approved? I don't know.
