Incorrect rendering of accented characters in BibTeX export to OverLeaf
Hi there,
I have a paid Zotero account, and a paid OverLeaf account. OverLeaf has a sync feature that will import BibTeX content from Zotero using an API. They claim that they fetch the BibTeX "as-is", and don't modify the content.
The problem is with author names that have accented characters, that should be exported as "K{\"o}ster", for example. Instead, they are exported as UTF-8, with the accented character. Unfortunately, this means that the author names are displayed with letters missing in the rendered PDF.
Can someone confirm that the Zotero API exports accented characters as UTF-8 in BibTeX files? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

otherwise, there are workarounds to sync local Zotero BibTeX ((which can be set to escape accents) to Overleaf -- several threads on to that here
