child notes after separation

I would like to use the child notes for outlining. But is it possible to reconnect child notes to their partents after they have been separated by toggling extensions.zotero.report.combineChildItems” to 'false'? , or are they separated forever?

    All that setting does is change how reports are generated. It has no effect on the rest of Zotero, and you can toggle it back and forth as you please.

    (I also suspect that setting won't do exactly what you expect, but you can try it out and read the documentation and other forum threads if it's unclear.)
