Zotero and Google Docs: Focus moving away during insert

Hi,

When I insert a reference in a Google Docs document, the focus switches to Zotero to use the pop-up window, before returning to the browser. This is extremely disruptive during writing. Is this the expected behavior? If so, any plans this will change in v7?

Cheers,
Carlos
  • Yes, the focus is switched to the Zotero citation dialog, and then it should switch to the browser, which based on what you are saying seems like it does. What would you want to happen differently? What OS and browser are you using?
  • Hi @adomasven,

I'm using a MacBook Pro and the Arc Browser.

I'd like a zotero search field / small window to show up to insert the citation, instead of being taken away from the document I'm writing.

    Best.
  • We do not provide official support for the Arc Browser, so unless you can reproduce this problem on Safari, Firefox, Chrome or Edge, we cannot help you. If you can reproduce it, we would recommend starting troubleshooting by disabling other extensions in the browser and making sure your browser and Zotero appear in the same screen/desktop, i.e. neither your browser nor Zotero are maximized.

I recently switched to the Arc Browser and things are definitely wonky. When using Google Docs, if I try to insert a citation sometimes nothing happens. If I Zotero > Refresh, this usually resolves the issue. Also, occasionally, after inserting a citation I get the hyperlink dialog box. It'll go away if you click on it and then go back to working on the doc. It should be fantastic if ya'll could start supporting Arc as well. Thank you!
