Proxy server hyphens vs dots

Hi everyone, I have an institutional proxy which uses dots instead of hypens in the hostname URL. The Zotero Connector documentation mentions a line "Some proxy servers require hyphens in proxied hostname URLs to be converted to dots. Check the box for this option if this is the case for your proxy server." but I cannot for the life of me find this checkbox!! Can someone please help? Many thanks!
  • Are you actually experiencing a problem? If so, can you say what it is?

You're sort of misunderstanding what that line is saying — it's talking about turning on the setting, not turning it off. It appears if you click a proxy entry in the Zotero Connector preferences, but in the vast majority of cases this isn't something you should need to configure manually.

Also, to be clear, a standard EZproxy setup uses hyphens for HTTPS URLs, because that's the only (reasonable) way they can be made to work. If you're connecting via HTTP rather than HTTPS to your proxy, or if this is some very unusual non-EZproxy proxy, it might use dots, but generally you want to be connecting to the proxy via HTTPS and it would be using hyphens.
