I frequently accidently create duplicates for the same reference, e.g. imported from PubMed and later full text from the publishers home. These are stored as two seperate items even if most fields (ISSN, volume, issue, page, authors) are recognized correctly and similar. It would be very nice if these could be merged, either manually or automatically. Now it is manually copying fields and dragging attachments and deleting one of the two from the library.

    duplicate detection and merging items are planned - there are various threads on this if you're interested in the details. My sense is that developers feel this is important enough to try to get it into Zotero's 2.1 release, but that's just an educated guess.
