Zotero is quite slow lately

Macbook i5 2017 12 inch with Big Sur and 8gb RAM.

When switching between Zotero and Word, it takes a few seconds, and opening pdfs in Zotero also takes more time than it does in preview. I have 1400 items in my library and 25 collections. In the past it used to be much smoother. Any idea why this is happening?

    Do you have any third-party plugins? If so, try to disable them.

    I have an extension in Opera to export pdfs, sitesnippets etc directly to Zotero called Zotero Connector. Should I disable/remove that?

    We're only interested in Zotero plugins.

    You could also give Zotero 7 a try, as it's likely to be faster.
