Escaping asterisk

In Zotero 6.0.27, when writing a note containing two asterisks (*), the text in between it displayed in italics and the asterisks are removed. I want to use "*" as a regular character: I tried escaping it with "\*" but it changes nothing. Is there any way to change this behaviour, either globally or locally?

I do a Ctrl-z (undo) just after it makes the change, and it makes the asterisks part of the regular text.
