Zotero 7 Beta: Overlapping text on collapsed comment on annotation

edited December 1, 2023
When I make a long comment on an annotation on a PDF file with the left Sidebar pane opened, it will automatically collapse it when I click somewhere else. If I add a line break between paragraphs, the text will be overlapped after collapse: see Screenshot.

1) Open a PDF file in the Zotero PDF viewer

2) Highlight some text

3) Add the following text as comment of the annotation:
Text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text. Text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text.
Text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text. Text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text.

4) Click on the PDF file
--> At this stage, the comment is collapsing properly.

5) Add a line break in the comment between the two paragraphs

6) Click on the PDF file
--> At this stage, the text of the comment is displayed with overlapping text.

[I remember seeing several bug reports related to annotations, but I could not find if this one was already reported.
I could only find this one that is also related to adding a line break in the comment of an annotation: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/109437/zotero-7-extra-line-breaks-in-annotation-comment]
  • This seems to be a Firefox bug and we can't do much about it. It doesn't happen in Chrome when using Zotero web library.
