Unable to download search results from various databases

Report ID: 2030673625

In the process of a meta-analysis, I am trying to transfer the articles from various databes to Zotero. I first did it on PubMed, and it worked. I then received the message that I was out of stockage, and thus paid for the 2GB plan.

I don't know if it's linked, but now when I try to download the folder to Zotero from PsycInfo or Ovid, I get the following error message :

"Une erreur s’est produite lors de l’enregistrement de ce document. Consultez Résoudre les problèmes de convertisseur pour davantage de précisions. "
(Issue with the translator)

Here is the link to the database I tried to download:

https://web.s.ebscohost.com/ehost/resultsadvanced?vid=4&sid=0a541277-e3b6-4cff-8ec3-ce81f8430453@redis&bquery=(fibromyalgia+OR+fibromyalgia+syndrome+OR+fibrositis+OR+fms+OR+fm+)+AND+(mindfulness+based+stress+reduction+OR+mbsr+OR+mindfulness+intervention+OR+mindful+OR+mindfulness)&bdata=JmRiPXBzeWgmdHlwZT0xJnNlYXJjaE1vZGU9U3RhbmRhcmQmc2l0ZT1laG9zdC1saXZl

In this case, the translator is EBSCOhost, but the same issue occurred with Ovid.

I have tried several ways to solve this but none worked :

- Check for updates on my browser or Zotero
- Uninstall and reinstall the Zotero Connector
- Try on a new browser (I was initially on Chrome, and tried to switch to Firefox)
- Restart my computer
- Try on a different internet connection (I was on the university wifi, and tried it on my personal hotspot)

I have one hypothesis regarding the issue, but have no idea how to fix it. As it worked on PubMed, which is an open database, but not with the two others, which needs access through my institution, I'm guessing the problem might come from there, but I'm not really sure how to avoid it.

  • Update :

I retried using my personal hotspot and the institution's vpn and it worked for PsycInfo (EBSCOhost). When I tried that, I also reduced the number of results from 50 to 30 articles, so that it would be lighter to import.

However, I tried doing the same thing on Ovid, and it still doesn't work :

"Une erreur s’est produite lors de l’enregistrement de ce document. Consultez Résoudre les problèmes de convertisseur pour davantage de précisions"

You're just hitting site access limits due to bulk retrievals.

Ultimately it's up to the sites to decide when to block you, but the Zotero translators for these sites haven't been updated to a newer mechanism that can be better at avoiding these blocks (by making multiple requests more slowly, basically). We'll try to get to that soon, but for now, you should see if you can build up a file to RIS or BibTeX export from the site, as explained on the linked page.
