New reference starting from 1 after the update

I was working on a document and had to edit it with some new references after updating the Zotero to 6.0.30. When I started, Zotero started with referencing from number 1 after reference number 38. I tried multiple ways by downloading the older version of the document, checking the referencing styles, and checking auto-update referencing in Document preference. Nothing seems to help.
