Upgrade Storage[Feature request] Merge Book with Book Section
Given the messy metadata that we get in academic publishing, I often find that I need to change 'journal articles' into book sections/chapters even when downloaded from the library. This requires adding editor information, etc, which I sometimes have to do for multiple chapters.
It would be a nice feature if I could change the Item Type to 'book section', then, get a citation for the book, make sure the book citation information is accurate, and then finally repeatedly merge the book with the book sections so that the missing information is accurately copied over.

This isn't a Zotero problem. I'm sure it detects the metadata is there, but the problem is that it is frequently wrong.

If I can get multiple chapters from this book, I'd rather just be able to merge what's correct in the original citations with the corrected book information rather than do it manually multiple times.
I wasn't implying that you were the only person with this type of problem, I was objecting to what sounded like an excessive generalization ("the messy metadata that we get in academic publishing"). Very often, it is possible to get high-quality metadata, so I asked for the link in order to check for possible technical problems.
Now indeed on this web page, the metadata isn't great (as you observed, the document type is incorrect) and I understand your situation better. I personally would prefer to fix the problem at the root and ask the site administrators to fix their code and/or database.
This being said, the Zotero workflows regarding books and book sections could definitely use some development time, the topic has been discussed several times on this forum (see for example https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/447687#Comment_447687 for a slightly different take on this general theme) and I hope something can be done after Zotero 7 is officially launched.
