New highlight is not shown when view is filtered by highlight color (MacOS)

When the highlight view is filtered by a particular color (say, purple) with the tool at the bottom of the left sidebar, and a new word is highlighted in purple, the new purple highlight does not show up until the filter view is turned off (i.e. all highlight colors shown). Once all colors are shown the new highlight appears, and stays as expected if the filter is turned back on. My expectation would be that, when the highlighting view is filtered to a certain color, if I add a highlight in that color it will show immediately and also be added to the highlight list in the left sidebar.
