Can I make a new Library?

I want to have a Classified Library (already exists as MyLibrary) and a Bookcase Library which does roughly exist in physical sense in about 35 bookcases but only to about 70% accuracy for physical and unsorted reasons.

Can I simulate this by a Collection with numerous (about 35) subcollections?
Thank you!
  • I've got some helpers coming (tomorrow!) to help me continue my Classified version in Zotero MyLibrary with about 35 collections - only partially completed. Helpers will fully complete I hope but good if I could (effectively) have a Zotero model of the Bookcase Library. Surely a common need?

  • We are in a Group. Can their be several Libraries in addition to 'the' Group Library? How?
  • Not totally clear what you're asking, but you can use collections, which allow items to exist in multiple places, or you can use groups, which are totally separate libraries. Really up to you.

  • Thanks dstillman. I also am not clear how to ask my question. I want to have my set of books divided in two ways: one is into subjects, another is into bookcases. I exported My Library, then imported into the Group Library (so it is separate). I have found that within a Group library I am allowed to have a collection 'Bookcases' with several subcollections (corresponding to bookcases BC1, BC2, ... ) alongside a set of subject collections (Art, Biography, Drama, ....). And I can link items to both a subject collection and a bookcase subcollection. I hope I shall be allowed 35 subcollections in Bookcases. This will, I think imitate what I have wanted. Is it sensible?
  • yes, that makes sense (and no problem with having 35 subcollections)
  • Thanks Adam - that's really helpful. It means I am not leading my helpers up the garden path! And looks like I can do what I was hoping with Zotero (among many other things).
