Embed Annotations into PDF
Hello! I know that you can export a pdf with the annotations embedded from the macOS app (I.e. to send the annotated file to someone else not viewing it in the Zotero app).
But I want to actually embed all annotations into my own files that are stored in my Zotero directory (and also synced with the Zotero cloud).
I just switched to Zotero and I love it, but I’m really worried I’m going to be stuck if I ever decide to leave with a bunch of files without the annotations embedded. Or I’d have to export each file one by one.
Is there a way to embed or at least flatten the annotation highlights into the PDF file itself?

Specifically to protect you against lock-in, Zotero gives you the option to write PDF annotations to files in any export format that includes files (so RIS, Zotero RDF, Endnote XML, etc.), which you can run for any number of items at once, including your entire library.
