disappearing links to Zotero in copied document

Hello, I am working on a document copied from an earlier version in which all citations had embedded links to Zotero. In the copy, not all of these links seem to be there. If a citation does still have the embedded link it gets a dark highlight when I hover over it, but lots don't. I'm worried that when I generate the bibliography not all the citations will appear, and without anually checking every one I may not notice. Do I have to regenerate every citation in the new document, or is there a quick fix to this. And how did it happen?
