cannot download Firefox connector

Hello
I'm new to Zotero and am unable to download the Firefox connector. I've tried disabling other extensions by using Firefox's troubleshoot mode but the result is the same - the page hangs indefinitely and nothing is downloaded.

Clicking on the buttons for the other connectors, from within Firefox, takes me to their respective pages.

Clicking on the Firefox connector install button from within Edge and Chrome yields the same result as clicking on it within Firefox - nothing is downloaded.

I'm at a loss as to what to do, short of using another browser, which I would like to avoid.

Any help, in the least techie terms possible, would be gratefully appreciated!
  • That sounds like something is off either with your browser or with your network, but you can download the .xpi file using right-click --> save link as from the Download for Firefox button (and then install using "Install from File" in Firefox's add-ons menu)

    Thanks Adam

I should have mentioned that I had already tried that solution but nothing happened when selecting 'save link as' (in contrast to right-clicking on the install for Zotero itself, which works as expected). That was true when trying to get the Firefox xpi via Firefox, Chrome and Edge browsers.

But I was able to download the .xpi for the connector from within Firefox using an Android tablet and email the file, which is now installed on my Windows 10 laptop and seems to be working. It hasn't added a 'Z' button but I can access it via the extensions (jigsaw) icon.

I haven't had problems installing or running other extensions or downloading files from other websites, so not really any closer to knowing what's causing the problem.

But the main thing is I can use it now :)

Hope that helps anyone else experiencing the same issue.
