Drag item to collection doesn't work.
-----The Zotero documentation says the following:
To add existing items in your library to a collection, select them in the center pane and drag them onto the collection in the left pane. By default, the items will be added to the new collection but won't be removed from their original location.

I just installed the Zotero7 Beta... I'm trying to copy an existing item into a collection. I do what the documentation says: In the middle pane I select the item I want, then try to drag it to a collection in the left pane. But as soon as I start to drag, a "prohibited" icon appears, and I'm not allowed to do the drag.
I also tried right-clicking on the desired note - that brings up a menu that includes Duplicate item, move item to trash, Export note, and Generate report from item... but no ability to add the item to a collection.
Did the ability to add an existing item to a collection get "disabled" in the Version 7 Beta?

Start by disabling all 3rd party add-ons, if any, and see if that makes a difference. Then make sure that you're looking in My Library and note in a group (this works in groups, too, but there you would also need the right permissions.
If none of that helps, could you take a screenshot of the middle panel with the righ-click menu open (use the delay function of your screenshot tool)?
I think I figured out my problem... I'm trying to copy a Child Note to a different collection. Apparently I'm not allowed to do that because the child belongs to a higher-level item and can't be "abstracted" from it. I conclude that if I want to have the same specific text note in two or more collections, I can copy the text of the original child note and then create a stand-alone note in the "new" Collection.
It'd be nice to be able to copy an "item" (say, a book) with its biblio data to a new collection, along with a selected subset of its child-notes - ie, copy the biblio data & subset to the new collection, without copying ALL of the original item's child-notes, some of which may not be relevant to the topic of the new collection.
