In-text citation for APA style displaying incorrectly
I am using APA 7th edition as my referencing style in a Word document. For some, but not all, author-date in-text citations, instead of getting lastname, date (e.g., Smith, 2020), I'm getting first initital. lastname, date (e.g., P. Smith, 2020). I have checked the setting in the style manager to ensure it is APA 7th and checked the analogous setting in the Word document. I also checked the content in the author field in the reference in the Zotero library and tested the display of the citation using Style Preview in the Style Manager.
I'm baffled why this is happening!

bwiernikNote that if you are citing multiple proper with the same last name such as M. Smith and P. Smith, APA style requires that you add initials to disambiguate them

dstillman(We do note that APA requires this on that page.)

RLifsetThanks for pointing me to this info on name disambiguation. It's very helpful.
