failure to download pdf

Hello,
When using the firefox browser extension (with the linux tarball) it is unable to download pdfs to my library, although other info such as the website snapshot is working. The same result happens with versions installed from the AUR, so I suspect it is something to do with permissions/device settings?

Does this happen on other sites, or just ScienceDirect? E.g., does it work on arXiv? (ScienceDirect should generally work, but it's far more aggressive than almost any other site about trying to block automated downloads.)
  • I've just tested it and it does work on arXiv! I'm surprised it doesn't work at all from the science direct page or the pdf veiw brought up by it. I don't suppose there's anything that can be done about this other than a manual download?

    Thanks!
  • I get the PDF when saving from that page in Firefox.

Can you provide a Debug ID (different from a Report ID) from Zotero for reloading the ScienceDirect article page and trying to save?
  • Here you go: D1094324590
  • That's from the Zotero Connector, not Zotero, but you have a lot of cookie/blocking-related browser extensions installed. I'd try with all of those disabled.

sorry for the delay, here's the proper debug ID: D856346940
  • But did you try with all other browser extensions disabled?
  • Yes

However, thinking about it I've just tried another firefox-based browser (as opposed to librewolf, which I have been using) and that worked, so it must be something to do with that. Other threads with librewolf issues seemed to come from their proxies, which I'm not using (but checked anyway). I'll go back to defaults and see if I can find any problematic settings as I reconfigure. If I manage to fix it like that I'll post the solution here.

Any specific suggestions as to what could be the specific problem would be appreciated, but otherwise I really appreciate your help so far, thanks!
