Upgrade StorageIndexing problems
I'm having a hard time getting zotero to index my database. I have pdftotext and pdfinfo 3.02 installed. I've tried clearing the index and rebuilding it, or rebuilding just the unindexed entries. Once I click 'rebuild', I've sometimes tried clicking "OK" pretty quickly after that, to exit the preferences dialogue, or have sometimes just left the preferences dialogue open, as the cursor is showing the 'wait' symbol (windows 7, a blue rotating circle). Often exiting the preferences dialogue causes firefox to crash.
In all cases, I can't get zotero to index more than 50 or so documents. After beginning to rebuild, when I check back in hours later or overnight, it appears that indexing has not progressed very far. A fairly standard "index statistics" reading would be:
Indexed: 48
Partial: 21
Unindexed 2239
Words: 83062
Interestingly, after indexing to that point, sometimes the next day I find that zero or just one item is listed as indexed (that is, the index is deleted or its contents somehow erased).
I'm using the latest version of zotero (from today), but this was happening for past several weeks and I previously had not used indexing because I'm synching zotero across several computers and feared having too large of a database. The 2000+ PDFs in the collection are all held in a folder and appear only as links in the zotero database. The vast majority of them (90%) have been OCR'd in adobe and contain text layers.
Regarding synching, I have syncing set to sync only upon demand, not automatically.

dstillmanA problem with errors during reindexing of linked PDFs was just fixed last night on the trunk, so you might want to try the latest dev build (and switch back to the next release once it's available). The dev builds should be stable between now and 2.0 Final.
