In text citation using APA 7th edition

Hello, I have selected the APA 7th edition under preference. However, the citation doesn't synch appropriately. For instance according to Perdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/in_text_citations_author_authors.html the citation for multiple authors should appear as (Wegener & Petty, 1994) however in my document it appears as (Wegener and Petty 1994), without the "&" and the comma. Could you assist?

    APA7 certainly does that correctly.

    Are you sure you have APA7 selected and the citations are refreshed?
    Try in a fresh document.

    I selected the APA 7 under the preferences of the document and that fixed the issue.
