Zotfile/Add-ons on Chromebook

Hello,

I am working with a student who is using a Chromebook. We have installed Zotero on their laptop with these steps: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/installing_on_a_chromebook.
Since Zotero lives in the linux sandbox within the Chromebook, it does not have native accessibility to other files. One can allow linux access to certain folders , or create and place files within the sandbox.

We have had a hard time getting Zotero to find the xpi files within the linux file system. They should be readable by Zotero, but when we try to install an addon via a file, the file does not show up in the file explorer window.

I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this issue while working on a Chromebook, or if anyone has found a solution to these issues.

Thank you!
