How to copy documents to a group while including changes

I want to make changes (e.g. by adding some information) in a document which appears both in my library and in one of my group collections. When I make these changes in my personal library then copy it in my group library, the document is not updated, only the "old" (not updated) version being kept. As a consequence every modification must be done "by hand" in the two collections separately. How to manage that in a single operation, which would save a lot of time?

Currently I'm afraid you need to delete the previously dragged copies of those items in the group and drag again (which, note, will break any existing citations pointing to those group items in word processor documents), but this is something we plan to improve in the future.
