Library used with 2 computers - and after sync some files are missing

Hello,

I’ve recently been using my Zotero library on a new computer. The storage limit was attained, and I then upgraded to the unlimited storage limit.

Someone synchronized the library in the computer that I used before using the new one and in which there were some files that needed to be synchronized in order for me to access them from my other computer.

Some files got correctly synchronized and I can now access them from my new computer BUT some files that were already synchronized before reaching the limit of storage are now inaccessible from my Zotero library in my new computer: when I click on them, they say that the file is unavailable. I went to my online library and there, when I clicked on the file, nothing happened.

What happened? What can I do?

Thank you
Thomas
  • You just need to sync files from the devices where they were actually created. And there's no way that files that were accessible before are now unavailable — you're just using a different device, and they likely weren't uploaded because of the quota.

Follow the steps in Files Not Syncing to debug.
  • Well, this is why I think there is a problem: my original library, in one computer (computer 1), with all the documents, has been synchronized (under the unlimited storage plan).

BUT, from my other computer (computer 2), I do not find a series of documents that are present in the other computer (computer 1). When I click on them on the Zotero local library, I receive a message that the file can't be found. When I click on them on my online web library, nothing happens.

I have asked twice to synchronize the files on my original computer (where the whole library is present), but the problem remained. Please help me.
  • I linked to the instructions you'll need to follow both to troubleshoot this and to provide the information that would let us help you further. We can't do anything without that.
