A Request -- Plugin v Add-on v Extension

Those of us who write and teach about Zotero would find it easier to talk about the 3rd-party enhancements if there was a consistent lingo. The documentation is titled "Plugins," the access from the Zotero is "Add-ons," but when you open the Add-ons window, it is labeled "Extensions." I realize that there may be subtle distinctions that qualify the various enhancements as one or the other, but an umbrella term that is used to encompass them all at the high level would help us to write and teach consistently. Tools? Enhancements? Or is "Add-On" an umbrella term for all three?
